One of the main reasons I make these mixes is to bookmark songs that I feel I might forget. With the shift to streaming it’s easier to listen to everything and even easier to lose track of things. I had a neat analogy going in my head about how these mixtapes are like a computer screenshot but now that I’m typing it out it’s no longer working. I’ll workshop that one a bit more.

I also use these mixtapes to bookmark these periods in my life. I started this one with a concept that helped get me going but started feeling forced. I was ready to shelve it and wait until things felt better. Then Christine McVie passed away. For some reason that shook something loose that allowed me to see what wasn’t working and how to fix it.

Christine McVie wrote incredible songs and always looked effortlessly capable. Real Queen Of Swords energy.
