This mixtape is called New Music Thursday 2025

Back in February when Calvin, Silas, Eloise and I were preparing to venture out for the Tyler The Creator show we made a group playlist to listen to on the way there and back. We did this by listing songs in the group chat and Calvin diligently compiled them.

After the show I suggested creating a collaborative playlist that we each add a song to every Thursday, and with that New Music Thursday was born!

I also took to making a shitty meme every (well most) Thursdays to remind everyone to drop something in.

The term “New Music” is perhaps a bit misleading as it never needed to be something brand new. The youth were always down to pull from all manner of eras, genres and styles.

Normally at this time of year there are all kinds of year end lists and wrap ups and what not. Those are cool and all but I wasn’t sure I had much to add to that conversation. However, I did want to put together a look back of this groupchat.

Thank you Calvin, Silas and Eloise for putting up with my memes and for correctly calling me out when I maybe forgot to send one. Love y’all… are we doing this next year? Let’s discuss at Christmas Dinner.
