This mixtape is called Run For Cover

I'd pitched the idea of working on a mixtape with Serena a few months ago. Every so often I would lightly rekindle the conversation. Partially to gauge interest and partially to steel myself from potential heartache. I knew if she didn't want to collab I would be sad, however, I felt it was important to give her the space to politely refrain. To my delight she was all in.

If Serena has taught me anything, it is that a compelling prompt will produce better output. Over the next few weeks a few ideas were kicked back and forth but we just weren't having our aha! moment.

I had one idea that I had been holding back on. Cover songs. I was nervous about this direction as it seemed too simple. But I threw it out there and she responded.

Sometimes nervous is good. A wise woman once told me "a compelling prompt will produce better output"... or something along those lines.
